Susi Evans (clarinet) and Szilvia Csaranko (accordion) will use tunes from their Klezmer Playbook to teach and demonstrate as much as they can in 2 hours about how to play in a klezmer style! This will include learning four great tunes from the klezmer repertoire as well as modes, ornamentation and how to play accompaniment to Yiddish dances.
If you’re sticking around for the evening, we’ll get a chance to play these tunes again in an informal ‘open mic’ event.
The workshop is open to everyone who plays an instrument, from approx. grade 4 level upwards. Ability to read music is required, but we may also do a tiny bit of playing by ear. Sheet music and audio recordings will be provided in advance.
The venue is wheelchair friendly and also has 2 accessible toilets.
