Mulberry Klezmer are pleased to present a relaxed evening celebrating traditional klezmer wedding and festival music of Jewish Central and Eastern Europe with Susi Evans & Szilvia Csaranko and friends.

The first half of the evening will be performed by two exceptional musicians Susi & Szilvia, who are passionate about the tradition of klezmer music.

The second half of the evening will be in the format of an open mic/jam session, led by Susi & Szilvia who will be joined by members of the Cambridge Mulberry Klezmer and Folk groups. There will also be the opportunity for anyone who wants to bring along a suitable acoustic instrument (e.g. violin, cello, double bass, clarinet, accordion, recorder, brass, percussion etc.) to join in the fun!

We are asking everyone to follow the recommended precautions regarding COVID-19.

The seating will be arranged ‘café-style’ so that you can sit together around a small table if you wish.

A selection fo light, non-alchoholic refreshments and snacks will be provided with the price of your ticket.   Please feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks to enjoy.   There are several small shops close to the venue.

The venue is wheelchair friendly and also has 2 accessible toilets.

About Susi & Szilvia

Susi and Szilvia perform internationally as a clarinet and accordion duo and are dedicated to teaching klezmer workshops for students of all levels. In March 2020 they released their album ‘Klezmer from the New World’, and have just published their first tune book, the Klezmer Playbook.

Susi Evans lives in London and Hanover and studied classical clarinet at the Royal Academy of Music. She has been laying klezmer and Balkan music since 2001 and performs worldwide with her bands She’Koyokh and the London Klezmer Quartet. She is regarded as one of Europe’s top klezmer clarinettists as well as performing on accordion and calling for Yiddish dances. She also dedicates her time to studying Bulgarian and Serbian clarinet styles and plays Frula (Serbian flute) and Gaida (Bulgarian bagpipes).

Szilvia Csaranko lives in Hanover and is a qualified cultural educator, accordionist and pianist. After completing her classical piano training she shifted her artistic focus to researching and teaching traditional music styles. She founded the klezmer-Balkan-Alpen-folk band, A Glezele Vayn, in 2004 and plays in numerous folk and world music projects at home and abroad.
