The Mawson Road Community Orchestra was founded in the summer of 2012 to play at a street party in Mawson Road. Their performance was shown on local television, which led to more invitations to play and its establishment as Cambridge’s community orchestra, welcoming anyone who can play an acoustic instrument and read music.
There are no auditions and the musical arrangements are made specifically for the orchestra, so there is no limit placed on the number of people playing a particular instrument (except one...). At the moment, we're particularly keen to recruit more string players. The atmosphere is friendly and informal and the members range in age from 7 to over 70.
